Maryland
In partnership with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), ESP has managed and operated a vehicle emissions inspection program in Maryland since 1984. In 2009, the Maryland Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) transitioned to a new program design. ESP inspects more than 1.6 million vehicles annually at 18 testing stations in 14 counties statewide utilizing on-board diagnostics (OBDII), idle emissions, and gas cap pressure testing technology.
Innovative Technology
To complement our robust testing equipment,
ESP has integrated the use of a new tool across
many of our programs to ensure accuracy in our
testing lanes. ESP’s proprietary OBD CommCheck
Tester (pictured) is used actively in our testing
lanes to verify the integrity of our equipment.
Community relations
ESP in Maryland has established the Environmental Systems Products Endowed Scholarship Fund at Morgan State University in Baltimore. This scholarship fund now exceeds a half million dollars and continues to provide support to local engineering and business students at the university.
ESP supports many other Baltimore-based charities and associations, including: The Pimlico Road Youth Program, Outward Bound, The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum, the Druid Hill YMCA, Bon Secours, The American Lung Association, and The National Center for Children and Families.
