Colorado

Program Description

The Colorado vehicle emissions testing program is one of ESP’s most comprehensive and technologically advanced. The seven-county Denver metropolitan area program provides services to more than 900,000 motorists annually. I/M 240, tailpipe and roadside remote sensing inspections – which identify both “clean” and “dirty” vehicles – combine to create a convenient, cost-effective and comprehensive program.

Innovative Technology

Air Care Colorado employs the latest in remote sensing technology to identify low and high-polluting vehicles, translating to customer convenience and greater air pollution reductions. Rigid quality assurance standards, a strict under hood inspection and a gas cap leak check round out this comprehensive and effective program.

Repair Industry Support

Envirotest supports an extensive repair industry outreach and education program. A full-time repair industry coordinator conducts periodic shop visits to gain industry feedback and provide information about program initiatives and changes. The coordinator works with shop owners to provide materials, technical support and ensure proper credit for repairs. A quarterly repair technician newsletter is published while ongoing workshops are held.

Community Relations

Colorado’s community relations effort is multi-faceted and includes partnerships with major stakeholders and community organizations. Envirotest partners with local air quality agencies and funds both an annual high school radio scholarship contest and Maintenance Matters, a repair industry vehicle maintenance education initiative. In addition, the company provides support for American Lung Association activities, the Regional Air Quality Council’s ozone reduction efforts, car care fairs and The Family Tree, a local battered women’s shelter. A consumer hotline provides information, in both English and Spanish, regarding emissions testing and vehicle registration.
